Echo Tokyo - Shizume Misaka

Introducing the second sneak peek at a character from my new graphic novel that is in development,
named 'Echo Tokyo' alongside the talented artist kouson33.

Shizume is the main protagonist of the new graphic novel series. Within the world of Echo-Tokyo she is what is known as 'a fixer' these people are a cross between private investigators and odd-job people. They have specialist training in combat as well as a variety of other fields to enable them to perform almost any contract that is required of them.

Echo Tokyo long ago gave up trying to maintain a government, leaving the conglomerates and companies to rule the main sections of Upper City and the Core, the slums however had to fend for themselves. Without a government the police forces were also abandoned and this allowed the fixers to move in to create a private sector investigative role for the companies to use should the need arise.

Meet Shizume; raised by an overprotective family as a young woman she became a fixer to realise her lifelong dream but for a long time she was barely able to maintain any contracts with the companies of the slums let alone the higher tiers of the Upper City colonists. Until she came into contact with one of the many strange anomalies that plague the city.

Upon contact her body was altered and her mind, though disrupting her quiet and careful nature it also gave her a new confidence and strange powers which allowed her to begin to climb the ladder of fame within the core of fixers. She now maintains a healthy clientèle of Upper City companies whilst she continues to try and break into the Core to raise her client list even higher.

This image shows the two forms of Shizume in the same style as the graphic novel artwork, the left shows how she looked prior to the incident with the anomaly, whilst the right image shows her physical changes, her renewed confidence and the changes in her power suit that the greater wealth of the upper city clients allowed her.

We hope to bring the graphic novel to Kickstarter to seek funding for the first book in the series within the coming month of May.
